This is the Christmas decoration I made this year. It certainly was a lot of work, but I think it a nice addition to the rest, and Thanksgiving is the kick-off for the season of JOY.
For Thanksgiving, 2009, Seth and I stayed home. Our wonderful friends, Adam and Laura Nelson, and their baby Charlotte came over on Wed. to stay the night at our house, and then we had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration.
Seth and Adam played football in the morning. Laura and I undertook the entire operation ourselves this year, with Seth's help (he made the turkey all by himself).

We cooked for about 8 hours on Thanksgiving Day. (I would have liked to get more done beforehand, but I was in the middle of classes and work, and it was just too crazy). Laura and I had a ball chatting in the kitchen as we worked. Laura made the most delicious sausage stuffing (best we've ever had), and potato rolls, 24-hour salad, and mashed potatoes, and pecan pie (probably more, but I don't remember). I made candied yams, fruit/jello salad, green bean casserole, corn (that was really hard. I had to heat it up and add butter and salt), gravy, and pumpkin pie.
Seth made the most tender, moist, delicious turkey any of us had ever had! He took Alton Brown's advice, and it was a good decision. Here is our super-bird!

Can I just say, I love my kitchen! It is freezing in the winter, when the oven isn't on, but it is really the nicest kitchen. I am so blessed! Counter and cupboard space galore, a nice sink, great appliances. Thanks to us, it's not Barney purple anymore. What an awesome kitchen we have!

The feast!

Andre, a friend from our ward came to Thanksgiving too, and said it was the best cooking he'd tasted since his grandma passed away. Laura and I took that as a great compliment. Andre also brought his hot sauce to the feast, and unique addition.

I used to do this with my olives when I was a kid. I loved putting them on all my fingers and eating them off. I don't like olive much anymore, I think I started to dislike them when my fingers grew too big.

Charlotte on her two cell-phones. She's a multi-tasker!

She loved those bead necklaces and wore them most of the time. Very festive!

I just love this picture. Daddy and daughter, enjoying the fire.

Charlotte loves to put on big people shoes, or slippers in this case.

The usual charades from our husbands.

The Nelsons will be our life-long friends that we go visit for vacations, and our kids will be friends. It's wonderful to have friends like that!
Later that night, we cleaned up, and the boys went to the Nelson's to watch football, and Laura and I watched 'White Christmas' at our house. That's the way to start of Christmas!
