Memorial Day

We had a 3 day weekend, and my sister Hannah came up from Provo to visit Seth and I, and my sister Claire who also goes to BYU Idaho. We really wanted to go Kayaking on Monday, but it has been raining for days and days, and there is a flood warning on the rivers. So we ended up staying inside most of the weekend. We had an awesome dinner on Sunday with all of us and Dan Springer, a friend from back home. Claire made Chicken Divan. So good! Claire said she would eat that every day, definately true. For some reason, Seth really wanted to make cinnamon rolls from scratch. He started making them at about 10:30 at night. We ended up staying awake until 3am! In the morning I woke up to the smell of cinnamon rolls, and walked out to see flowers on the table for me! It was a glorious morning. When your husband brings you flowers when you expect it, it is awesome, and when he brings you flowers when you don't expect it, it is AMAZING! It just makes you feel special, and loved. That was so thoughtful. To all you husbands out there, do not underestimate the power of bringing your wife flowers. And these ones show how smart Seth is because he got ones in a pot that don't die immediately. They just make me happy everytime I see them.

I love to read all the blogs with my friends and family with kids, and it is so fun to read them. The hilarious things they say... I am in the nursery at church, so I get to take care of the coolest little kids. One of the little girls, Katie Marie calls one of the boys "Odie," because she can't pronounce Owen, and he thinks it is hilarious. They just laugh and laugh. One of the thing that I think is so funny about these little kids is that they love to be chased and tickled. I hate to be tickled. I wonder why I grew out of it. I am so excited to have kids someday. I think then I will have something much more interesting to talk about, or at least more funny stories to recount.

This is my latest haircut. I got it cut a week or two ago by my friend Angie who just got home from her mission. We used to be old roommates, and she has her haircutting lisence. So I figured, why not try something new? So I surprised Seth by cutting off about 8 inches of my hair.

Angie did a great job, but as I always do after I cut my hair short, I think, "What was I thinking?" But after a few days of not having to blowdry or do anything else that takes effort, I thought it was a great haircut. It is growing on me.

I ran into Nick Mietus, an old friend from back home a few days ago. He said, "You look exactly like your Mom right now! It's like I am looking right at your mom." I think that was a compliment, and I will take it as one. I think he saw that because I was smiling a lot, and my mom always smiles. She is such a cheerful person.

During the 10 day semester break Seth and I went to stay with our friend Jill Davis. Jill is on the Speech and Debate Team with us. She is a master veteran. It was so fun to stay with her and her family. They were so nice to us, and they have an awesome house! It was built in the 70's, and is totally decked out. It has a bowling ally, 2 pool tables, a ping-pong table, a dentist office, a home theatre (we watched a Coldplay concert on it, and it was unbelievable!), a badminton/basketball court, a pool, a jacuzzi, a volleyball net. It was a pretty crazy cool house. The Davis' took us to Red Rock to go hiking one day. I thought it could be really fun, and thought I was up to it. Little did I know that Red Rock is exactly that, a whole lot of rocks, some huge boulders, some loose rocks that you can break your ankles...just rocks as far as the eye can see. It turns out I wasn't up for boulder hiking in 95 degree weather in the middle of a desert. Most of you know I was really sick last year for a long time. I am still trying to overcome muscular dystrophy, so hiking on these rocks was way difficult. Thank Heaven Seth was there to help me. Jill is the one in the green, and those are her sisters and her Mom.

I really cannot figure out this blog thing. No matter how hard I try, I can't get this picture to rotate. I tried saving it that way before I uploaded it, and a number of other things.... well I though this picture was funny, so I'm posting it sideways anyhow.

From here, it looks really beautiful. It was just that during the hike I had to stare at my feet the whole time to keep from tripping and breaking my ankle or my neck. It's a good thing we got some pictures.

On one of our trips downtown we went to Mandolay Bay to see the Shark Reef. We got in for free because we mailed in our taxes on tax day! Good deal, huh? It was awesome to see all the fish and sharks.

This one was certainly the most ferocious.


We walked through a lot of other casino/hotels, and I thought Bellagio was pretty cool. They have a beautiful display there completely made out of flowers, and crazy stuff on the ceilings. It was very pretty. I was really looking forward to the fountain show, but it was too windy every day, so they weren't doing it...bummer..maybe next time.

I have been told by many a native of Las Vegas that the buffets are the best, and they were right! We went to one at the Red Rock Resort, and it was awesome! We went right before dinner, so wee paid for lunch, and got lunch AND dinner! Pretty sneaky...OK, not really, but it was fun. The saddest part about it was that I couldn't eat anymore. Jill ate an entire plate of shrimp, and one of sushi as well. I think that in a period of 5 days Jill ate sushi almost 10 times. I am not exaggerating. She is in love with sushi. I tried it for the first time at the buffet, and I thought it was gross. I was told that the sauce was bad though, and I 'ate it the wrong way,' whatever that means...so maybe I will try again someday.

It was really nice that we got to see Seth's sister Sarah a few times while we were there. One of the times we went to Red Lobster together because Seth and I had a gift card. It was my first time eating Lobster and Crab. Sarah thought that it was funny enough to be a show in Vegas. I'm sure it was pretty funny watching Seth and I try to get the meat out of the shells. We had no clue what we were doing. Maybe I am just not a real seafood eater.

Our Wedding Day

Seth and I were married in Salt Lake Temple on February 3, 2007. It was a beautiful day! It was miraculously warm, and yet there was still snow on the ground. I cannot express all of the wonderful feelings we had that day. Our joy was overwhelming. We are so happy to be married 16 months later, and are excited to spend eternity together. In the time that we have been married, I have learned the importance of supporting each other through all the hard times. There are a lot of those, but they are certainly worth it. Through all the trials, you grow closer together. Seth has carried me through deep water so many times, and has never complained once. I am so blessed to have him at my side. On our wedding day it seemed like nothing could go wrong, and our joy was overflowing. Now I know better that everything doesn't always turn out the way you expect it to, but when you have your best friend who you can trust to hold your hand through the scary parts, it doesn't seem so bad anymore. It feels so good to look back together each time we get through and know we made it, and that we will get through the next step some how. It is such a great blessing to be married.
